Pauline’s father had her riding horses as soon as she could sit up. Like him, she always had a love for horses and participated in rodeos and especially enjoyed barrel racing. She graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1947 and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Art at Our Lady of the Lake University in 1951. She was a talented and creative artist; her paintings were praised by the art critic of the day, Amy Freeman Lee. Following college, she worked as a bookkeeper for a CPA for a number of years. In early March of 1954, she met Lester E. Pratt on a blind date. They fell in love and were married less than 3 months later on May 29, 1954. Pauline and Lester owned and operated a laundromat on Blanco Road in the early 1960’s. In 1966, they opened Blanco Rentals on Blanco Road where her accounting and business skills contributed to its successful growth and expansion until they sold it in 1999. She also owned and operated Castle Interiors, a home decorating business in the 1980’s. Pauline loved being with her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She also loved animals, especially horses, which she owned most of her life. Pauline enjoyed traveling with her entire family all around the U.S. as well as in Europe.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for many years, and more recently, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She had a passion for sharing God’s word, providing bibles to the homeless and Sunday school children. She was extremely dedicated to the Sunday School program, teaching for over 25 years and then assisting with its administration. Pauline loved working in the yard and growing flowers. She was a member of the Castle Hills Garden Club for many years, serving in various officer positions, including as President twice. The family wishes to thank her loving caretaker, Juana Schraitle and friends, family, and medical staff for their support and prayers.
