Patrick Lee Miller, born January 2, 1955, was 67 years old when he went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Lynn Miller; son, Patrick Al Miller, and wife, Jill Anderson; daughter, Stacey Lynn Miller; grandchildren, Preston Nathaniel Miller, and Tatum Anderson; two brothers, Michael Miller, and wife Valda Miller; Frank Miller; and sister, Brenda (Susie) Swonson and husband, Craig Swonson.
Through Pat’s brother Mike, at her young age of 16, Carrie met Pat. It was love at first sight and he turned out to be the love of her life. As she describes him, she will say, "he was her bad boy to a sheltered life." The couple tied the knot in Canyon Lake, Texas, on February 3, 1979, and have been happily married for 42 years. There was no doubt in their minds that they were soul mates. As a result of their love, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Patrick "Chico" and Stacey.
Patrick adored Chico and taught him everything he could about fishing, tools, automobiles, arms, and ammunitions. Stacey was daddy's girl and grew into a beautiful young woman under the watchful eye of her father. She would bless him with a grandson, Preston. It was Preston who gave him a new lease on life. Papa Patrick was a very admired figure in Preston's life.
Patrick worked various jobs before settling at the San Antonio Express-News, where he worked for over 20 years. Friends and family played a significant role in his calling to Freemasonry Fraternal Organizations, where he became a long-time member of Blue Bonnet Masonic Lodge #1219 A.F.&A.M. He rose in rank and became a Master Mason when he turned 40 years old. During his time as a member, he helped new members learn the rites and progressed through the degrees of Freemasonry. Freemasonry was a significant part of his life, and he loved spending time with his lodge brothers. In addition to his Master Mason education, he was a member of the Scottish Rite (32nd Mason), the Alzafar Shriners International, and the Shrine Rod and Gun Club. He devoted his time and heart to these Freemasonry institutions.
His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, going to the shooting range and Texas coast getaways with family and friends. He also developed a love of traveling on cruise ships with Carrie and exploring the places they visited, including Alaska. He dreamed of moving to Alaska after Carrie retired to be an "Alaskan Mountain Man."
