It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pablo S. Duque Jr., who left this world on November 27, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on February 21, 1939, Pablo lived a beautiful life of love and adventure, creating many cherished memories.
Pablo found joy in traveling and spending time with his family. Pablo was a loyal employee of HB Zachary/Capital Cement where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 47 years. In retirement, after a meal at one of his favorite spots, he enjoyed rides through the streets of the “barrio”. He treasured his time at his ranch in Uvalde, TX. Pablo enjoyed preparing meals for family and always showed off his cooking skills for whoever showed up at the side door of his home, cabin, or campsite. Pablo enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, The Andy Griffith Show, Judge Judy and Cops, sharing laughs with those around him.
Pablo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sylvia S. Duque, and his parents, Pablo Santolla and Carmen Duque. Their reunion in Heaven brings comfort to those who are here on Earth.
He is survived by a large and loving family: his children with Sylvia, Betty Ibarra (Ruben), Alma Casias (Ramon Amaro), Melba Duque, Pablo Duque III, Lisa Sanchez (Carlos), Ermilo Marcus Duque, and MiLaura Duque (Sergio Sanchez); his daughters, Pearl Cavazos and Patricia Castilleja; Bonus daughter Mary (Licha) Anguiano (JJ), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind an extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss his warmth, humor, and stories.
Pablo’s life was a testament to the strength of family, the value of hard work, and the importance of finding joy in everyday moments. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Dad.
