He grew up in Borger, TX, and went to school at Frank Phillips College. He served in the Navy for 2 years on the USS Mauna Kea in the Pacific before returning to Texas to marry Sheryl Youngblood, who would be his wife for over 50 years before her passing in 2020. Norman and Sheryl moved to Lubbock, TX where they raised their two sons, Tracy and Travis, and he worked as a machinist and shop supervisor in the mechanical engineering department at Texas Tech University. Upon retiring, Norman and Sheryl moved to San Antonio to be nearer to their sons and grandchildren and were members at Village Parkway Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Tracy with his wife, Gabriela, and their children Heather, Nathan, and Daniela, and his son, Travis, his wife, Annie, and their children, Mollie, Luke, Natalie, Levi, Benjamin, and Seth. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mimi Youngblood and nephew, Matthew Youngblood, as well as many friends.
He was kindhearted, easy going, loved to laugh and talk, and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. His Celebration of Life will be at Village Parkway in San Antonio on Monday, May 8th at 10am with live streaming online (https://vpbc.net - then click link at bottom for their YouTube or Facebook page to view live streaming) . Donations may be made in his memory to VPBC's Benevolence Fund.
