Norma Jean Rogers

She was born in Henderson, TX on June 11, 1927. Norma graduated from Kilgore High School and went to business college in Kilgore, TX.

She married Gilbert Leon Rogers on January 9, 1949.

Norma retired from Northeast Baptist Hospital in the early 1990’s where she worked in central supplies doing sterilization.

She was a member of the Greater San Antonio Quilting Guild and the Ernest Tubb Fan Club. She loved quilting and gardening. She had a knack for growing vegetables and roses. Her okra plants were nearly twice as tall as she was. Norma loved to dance and would go out to the Farmer’s Daughter to listen to music.

She had a kind and caring heart and was such a giving woman.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents Tellie Hue Hedge, Sr and Imogene Finley Hedge Ruth; brothers Tellie Hue Hedge, Jr (MIA, June 22,1945, during WW II) and Raymond (Buddy) Hedge; sister Jo Nell Dale; step son Grover Leon Rogers and her son Kerman Shane Rogers. She is survived by her children Ray Rogers of San Antonio, TX; Glenda Rogers of Schertz, TX; daughter-in-law Karen Lynn Brown Rogers of San Antonio, TX and Clyde Rogers (Patty) of Seguin, TX. Three granddaughters and four grandsons. Eleven great grandchildren.

Norma was a resident of San Antonio since 1963. She was very family centered and loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids with all of her being.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 12:00, September 9,2022 at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
