Nancy Mendoza

Nancy was born on March 18, 1945 in Leon Springs, Texas. On June 22, 1968 she married the love of her life, Ronald Mendoza, and remained married until his passing in 2017. Nancy earned an Associate of Applied Science in Child Development from San Antonio College. Her passion for nurturing young lives was reflected in her career and the community she served.

Nancy is reunited in heaven with those who preceded her; her loving parents, Cipriano and Isabel; beloved husband Ronald; sisters, Stella Trevino, Rosie Mendoza, Felice Jasso, Ofelia Valdez; and brothers Ismael, Alex, Cipriano, and Willie Valdez.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving family: son Ron; daughter Christine Silva (Eddie); grandchildren Joel (Whitley), Gabriel, Christopher, and Hannah; sisters, Gloria Trevino, Betty Apodaca, Margaret Lomas, Linda Cantu; brother, Ernest Valdez, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation for Nancy will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 7:00 PM, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Rd, San Antonio, TX 78228. A committal service will follow on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to Diana Mercado for her compassionate care for Mom over the past 4 years.

Nancy’s warmth, love and faith will continue to guide us as we honor her memory. Though our hearts are heavy, we are forever grateful for the time we shared with her. May she rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and will be eternally missed.
