Minerva grew up in San Antonio, TX and graduated from Harlandale Highschool in ’69. She worked for the city of San Antonio and during that time she joined the United States Air Force (USAF) to serve her country and entered Active Duty in March 1978. She was honorably discharged in August of 1978. It was while in the air force that she met and married the love of her life, Luis C. Perez. Minerva then re-enlisted in the USAF Reserve, while also working at AT&T, to continue serving her country. She retired honorably in May of 1995 after serving 16 years and was one of the first women allowed to fly on the C-5 Cargo plane during her time with the USAF. Luis and Minnie shared more than 35 years together and enjoyed spending time in Rockport at their home with their beloved dogs. It was always with her husband, her dogs, and her family where she was happiest.
Minnie is survived by her spouse, Luis C. Perez and children: Luis and Renee Perez, Felicia and William Rivera, Robert and Tina Perez, Roberta and Dean Hernandez, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister Linda Munguia, niece and nephew: Gina and Anthony Nicolas (great nephews: Aidan and Evan) and niece Jessica Martinez.
A visitation for Minerva will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a speaker at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205.
A committal service will occur the following week on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM Shelter #1 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Kidney Foundation in Minerva Perez’s name.
