Mindy Lyn Bonnet 32, born August 5, 1984 in Port Lavaca, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2017, at home with her parents by her side, after a 15 month courageous battle with brain cancer.
Mindy attended First Assembly of God in Brenham, Texas, where she committed her life to the Lord and was water baptized. Mindy graduated from Brenham High school in 2002 where she was a state cross country runner receiving a scholarship to Sam Houston University where she attended. Moving with her parents to San Antonio in 2004, Mindy was a member of Fortress Church where she taught Missionettes and was a teacher at Grace Christian School at the church for 4 years. Following her passion for teaching, Mindy moved to Austin, Texas in 2010 where she taught pre-school children and became the curriculum coordinator at Children’s Center of Austin, Steiner Ranch. Mindy attended the Art Institute of Austin where she enjoyed learning about the culinary world and putting her artistic gifting into cooking.
Mindy is survived by her parents Dennis and Lisa Bonnet of San Antonio, Texas, her brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Hope Batchman of Brenham, Texas, and her cherished nieces and nephews: Ashley Batchman of San Antonio, Caleb Batchman of Austin, Andrew, Joel, Micah, and Madison Batchman all of Brenham, grandfather Eugene Bonnet of Port Lavaca, her beloved puppy, Shaggy, of 12 years, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mindy drew comfort in spending time with her family and friends and her best friend Jesus during her illness.
Mindy was preceded in death by her grandparents Bill and Phyllis McCoy, Nelma Merrill Courtright, Ellen Wallace, and Evelyne Bonnet, uncle Michael Bonnet, Cousin LaLania Riley Hall, and childhood friend, April Nettles.
Funeral services for Mindy will be held Sunday the 6th of August at Fortress Church, 7760 Prue Rd, San Antonio, Texas, at 6:00 p.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to service. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Garcia and Rev. Mike Bingaman. Service will continue on Monday August 7, 2017 at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W.
