Mike L. Parra

Mike Louis Parra entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born on August 25, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. He was one of twelve children born to Miguel and Maria Parra. Mike graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1962. He was a jack of all trades. He learned how to do electrical work, carpentry, automotive repairs, upholstery, and plumbing.

Following high school he worked in upholstery for several years. With his knowledge and experience, he taught an upholstery course at St. Phillip's College. He met his wife, Maria, in 1984 and they married on October 4, 1986. Mike was an avid bowler and passed on his love of bowling to Maria. Together they competed in many leagues and won first place in a league tournament.

Mike opened his own upholstery company, Mike's Custom Upholstery, in 1999. Together with his wife, Maria, they created beautiful custom furniture pieces. Mike retired from the upholstery business in 2010. He spent his time inseparable from his wife as they cared for their country property and spent time enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife, Maria Santos Parra; children, Mike Parra Jr., Richard Parra, Yolanda A Sanchez (Apolinar), Sylvia Hernandez, J.R. Arocha (Diana), Laura Rodriguez (Jacob); grandchildren, Tommy Arocha, Vanessa Hernandez, Xavier Sanchez, Michael Parra, Aaron Green, Gabriela Martinez, Jacob Arocha, Jack Rodriguez, Adily Rodriguez, Isla Rodriguez, Adrian Diaz, Reanna Quayle and Dylan Quayle; great-grandchildren, David Dobbs, Autumn Arocha, Tristan Arocha, Aubrey Maldejano and Angel Quayle; siblings, Teresa Leal, Juana Gutierrez, Alicia Mendez, Gloria Salinas, Rudy Parra, and Ernesto Parra. He is preceded in death by his parents; Miguel Figueroa Parra and Maria Segovia Parra; daughter, Linda Parra Alvarez; grandson, Alex Parra; siblings, Robert Parra, Ignacia Parra, Virginia Hernandez, Jesse Parra and Betito Parra . He will be truly missed by family and friends.

The Visitation will begin on Monday, April 10, 2023 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, 78237. The Rosary to be recited Monday, April 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The Chapel Service will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home with interment to follow at First Memorial Park.
