Mary A. Martin

Mary A. Martin, age 71, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2011. She was born on August 5, 1940 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Hosea and Margaret Washington. Mary was an LVN and also was a substitute teacher for NISD for 15 years, Sunday school teacher at Chapel 3 Lackland AFB, and a member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband Anderson Martin and is survived by her daughters, Sharon (J.B.) Blacknall of San Antonio, TX., Monique Martin of Houston, TX, and Tara (Richard) DeLeon of San Antonio, TX ; grandchildren, Chantel Blacknall, Jamaal Blacknall of Las Vegas, NV. and Ryan Matthew DeLeon of San Antonio,TX; sister, Anna Belle (Elvis) Baker; brother, Hosea (Ethel) Washington and a host of friends and family. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be a celebration of her life at 8:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2011 at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 329 S.W. 41 Street with Rev. Kennith Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
