On March 29th surrounded in love Mary Lou Belcher made her transition from life into new life through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Joyfully she has taken her seat at the eternal banquet table set for her in everlasting love. She was 86 years young.
On July 30, 1935 Leopoldo & Amelia Garcia welcomed their beautiful firstborn baby girl Maria Louisa Garcia (Mary Lou) into life in their hometown of Laredo Texas.
On June 13th 1978 Mary Lou Garcia was Wed in Holy Matrimony to Raburn F. Belcher. Together in love they shared 6 beautiful daughters Deborah, Joyce, Peggy, Sharon, Ingeborg and Audrey along with one son Albert.
Mary Lou was a fierce woman, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She held fast to her beliefs and defended those she loved. She always sought to better herself in character and grace. Although she was small in stature, she was a powerful force to be reckoned with.
As a young woman Mary Lou attended Laredo business college and later became a licensed vocational nurse where she faithfully provided private duty nursing for many years.
Mary Lou alongside Raburn Shared a full life through the experiences of a large family and years of regular travel to Laredo, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Mary Lou enjoyed her husband’s gardening and her many gardening statues; she enjoyed her family and the many family gatherings. To be honest she thoroughly enjoyed doing life with the love of her life Raburn and merely sitting with her favorite pets as she watched her shows or read her magazines. Mary Lou had a strong wit and an excellent sense of humor along with a wealth of wisdom she gracefully and willingly shared with those around her. She designed, built, filled and kept her home as a place of love and refuge for family and friends. She had a deep love for animals and animals had a deep love for her. She was known for taking in the lost who came to find her, over the years she rescued many animals including dogs, cats, squirrels, birds and beyond. In her last years she especially loved her Chihuahua “Blu Ray” who faithfully loved and guarded her to the end of her days. Mary Lou lived a life of love stories and with her passing she leaves with us that very legacy of love in and through her beautiful family she has hidden those memories in. Blessed be her memory.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her mother Amelia, father Leopoldo, Sister Bertha Demus, sister Rosa Garcia, daughter Sharon Springer, great grandson Jacob Gillitzer.
