Martha June Crowder Farmer passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Mom is now at peace and resting in the arms of her eternal savior. Born in Marietta, Georgia on February 19, 1934, Mom was 83 years old. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James E. Farmer, and is survived by her brother William “Billy” Crowder and her sister Carolyn Hall; two sons – Daryl Melvin Bippert and his wife Suzan, and David Wayne Bippert and his wife Lisa; two daughters - Brenda L. Atherton and her husband Sandy, and Melinda S. Farmer and her husband Skip Hollomon; grandsons-James Hinton, Colt Bippert, Travis Bippert, Eric Bippert and Joshua Bippert, and her great-granddaughter, Audrey Hinton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Ron and Priscilla Blankenship.
Mom worked at Frost National Bank for over 30 years. Mom enjoyed cooking-and many times over the years she would help her busy family out by cooking a meal for them-and it normally was enough to cover several meals! Mom also enjoyed eating out, fishing with her friend Fern at LBJ Lake, talking with Pris and Ron on the phone as well as visiting them in New Orleans for the good spicy Cajun food that she so enjoyed, and spending time with her family.
Our family would like to express their deep and abiding respect and appreciation for all of the caregivers that assisted us over the last three years keeping Mom comfortable at home. Special love and thanks go to Kimberly Stewart and Perly Sheffield, her long-time caregivers, for their dedication and compassion to ensuring Mom was cared for and comfortable. We would also like to thank Good Sheperd Hospice for the care and compassion all of the nurses showed towards Mom, especially Rose Flammia-Mom’s nurse for the last 9 months.
Private graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, May 4. The family will receive visitors and condolences afterwards, from 12:30-2:30, at the home of Sandy and Brenda Atherton-221 Belvidere-San Antonio, TX 78212. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concordia Lutheran School or the charity of choice.
