Maria Rodriguez Wiegand

Maria was a well-respected, kind-hearted woman who was always ready to lend a hand. Maria strived for a close-knit family. She was a pioneering spirit who came to the United States to better the welfare of her children and future generations. She leaves a legacy of sacrifice and generosity as an example for all to follow.

Maria is survived by her brothers, Jose Rodriguez Perez and Ventura Rodriguez Perez, her sister Ma. Berta Cortes Rodriguez; her daughters Martha O. Barrera, Rosie A. Plata, and Rosalba F. Sammon; her grandchildren, Frank A. Barrera, Vanessa O. Pedroza, Gabriel A. Fuentes, Edward J. Plata, Andrew S. Fuentes, Selena C. Plata, Joshua E. Fuentes, Michael A. Plata, and Noah M. Plata; and great-granddaughter Layla S. Plata. She is also survived by many members of extended family, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 5:00p.m. with a 7:00p.m. Rosary at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00a.m. at the Cathedral of San Fernando, 115 West Main Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II Catholic Cemetery.
