Maria Alba Velasquez

Maria's employment started at Harry Sugarman's for many years. She was a receptionist at this company that distributed, sold and repaired high end Sony T.V. and entertainment equipment. This company also distributed military insignias. Our mother was blessed to work alongside her mother and aunts.

Maria always attended Mass on December 12th with her daughter, Sylvia in the early morning. When Maria retired, she relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked part time as a resident coordinator, lending library, and mail clerk. On her off time she loved to play bingo at the local Gold Coast Casino.

Some of the characteristics that made Maria stand out in life included being loveable, compassionate, gentle and funny. She will be remembered for being a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.

Left behind to cherish Maria's memory are her sons, Charles Saldana and Stephen Saldana (Melissa) ; daughters, Maria Alicia Saldana Garcia (Victor) and Sylvia Ann Saldana Garcia (Javier) ; grandchildren, Bryan Saldana, Sonia Saldana, Christopher Saldana, Gabriella Saldana Casas, Crystal Aguilar, Jennifer Garcia, Javier Garcia Jr., Jacob Garcia, Jacqueline Marie Garcia, Anndriana Saldana, Stephen Saldana, and Kaitlyn Saldana; great grandchildren, Brandon Saldana, Pedro Leos Jr., Victoria Leos, Joshua Leos, Kristen Saldana, Nicolas Saldana, Aiden Saldana, Isabelle Hernandez, and Maria Alicia Gonzales; and great great grandchild, Robin Saldana.

Maria meets in Heaven her son, Samuel Saldana Jr.; grandson, Michael Anthony Saldana; mother, Seferina Alba; and brother, Richard Alba.

Maria's family meant the world to her and she lived everyday for them, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Maria will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232 with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. A funeral mass will occur Friday, May 26, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at St Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78232 with a committal service to follow from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM at San Juan Cemetery, 3413 Callihan Rd., Prairie Lea, TX 78648.
