Mary G. Fernandez 91, loving mother of four and devoted wife of 70 years to her one true love Edward G. Fernandez went to the house of our Lord on December 8, 2024. Mary was born in 1933 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Bernabe Gonzales and Prisiliana Flores Gonzalez. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gregory Gonzales and sisters, Mrs. Antonia “Toni” Fernandez, Mrs. Julia Olivo, Mrs. Annie Jimenez, and Mrs. Lupe Torres.
After meeting her husband who served the United States Airforce, the couple married and moved to San Antonio to raise a family. In keeping with family tradition Mary instilled prayer and the attendance of weekly mass and was recognized for only wanting the best for her family. Mary was a compassionate, loving, and kind mother and grandmother who always provided encouragement. She consistently viewed the good in others and took pride in welcoming all to the Fernandez home, eager to share a meal and exchange stories.
After 70 years of marriage Mary will be greatly missed by her husband and four children: Diane Fernandez-Brown, Edward G. Fernandez, Jr., John A. Fernandez, and Armando D. Fernandez. Mary will be forever adored within the hearts of her family to include grand, great, and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Funeraria del Angel Trevino.

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
