Maria Lourdes Cruz

Maria was born in the Philippines to Rosauro and Prophetiza Ocampo on June 8, 1931. She married Eladio Francisco Cruz on October 10, 1957 in the Philippines. She graduated from University of Santo Tomas with degrees in Education and Library Science. She loved working as a teacher and a volunteer for Holy Trinity School in Norfolk Virginia for over 20 years and was a parishioner of the church for over 50 years. She was involved in the Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Newcomers of San Antonio and belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Virgnia, St Vincent de Paul in Houston and Blessed Sacrament in San Antonio. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in a family of seven, Maria loved her brothers and sisters very much and enjoyed spending time particularly with her two sisters, Rosario and Ofelia, before they passed away.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Eladio Francisco Cruz and son, Richard Michael Cruz; parents and siblings Carlos, Rosario, Rosauro, Ofelia, Anthony and Jose.

Maria is survived by her children, Raymond and wife Lela Cruz; and daughter, Marie and husband David Metzger; Grandchildren: Stephanie and husband Reid Jonkers; Elizabeth Frances Metzger; Alexa Rae Cruz and her fiancée Sean Thornton; Elise Lauren Cruz; Great-Grandchildren: Ofelia, Delilah and Clementine Jonkers.

Family rosary will be 10:00 am on Saturday, September 16 via Zoom.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm, Saturday, September 16 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Norfolk, Virginia with Father James Glass of Holy Trinity, officiating. Private family burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
