Lucia attended schools in Academy, Texas and later continued to further her education with college classes at San Antonio College.
She moved to San Antonio, met, and then married Melecio O. Lopez on August 17, 1958. She was affiliated with St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in San Antonio.
Lucia worked as a substitute teacher for San Antonio Independent School District for 26 years.
Lucia enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alfonso and Simona Martinez from Rogers, Texas, her sister Amelia Sierra and brother-in-law, Jesse Sierra from Houston, Texas, and her husband of 58 years, Melecio O. Lopez from San Antonio.
Lucia is survived by her daughters Rebecca Lopez and Norma Lopez of San Antonio. Brothers and Sisters, Alfonso Martinez, Jr. (Sally-deceased) from Heidenheimer, Texas; Basilio Martinez (Regina) from Temple, Texas; Joe Albert Martinez (Mary) from Rogers Texas; Virginia Martinez from Rogers, Texas; Helen Jimenez (Augie-deceased) from Temple, Texas; Susan Sedillo (Rudy) from Troy, Texas; Jesse Ray Martinez (Gloria) from Rogers, Texas; David Martinez (Bernie) from Temple, Texas; Andres Martinez (Lonnie) from Rogers, Texas. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Arrangements will be held at Del Angel Treviño Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. Visitation will be April 10th from 5-9 and a rosary at 7:00 pm. A mass will be April 11th at 11:30 am at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 907 W. Theo Avenue in San Antonio. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio at 1:00 pm.
