Lloyd Wayne Parker, Jr., age 78, passed on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at his home in Helotes, TX, after a battle with cancer. Born in Seattle, WA, on July 26, 1942, to parents, N. Ruth (Hendrickson) Parker and Lloyd Wayne Parker, Sr.
He was the beloved Husband of Sharon I. Parker; Father of Mandy (Patrick), Jeff (Leena), and Dory (Joseph); Grandfather of Krista & Alec, Nathan & Josh; Brother of Raynauld J Parker.
His youth was spent on and off in Harriman, Tennessee growing up with cousins, friends and Grandma Lela on a tobacco farm. Life in the Hills meant: goose plucking, ball lightning, cold spring water, watermelon, & tobacco horn worm picking! It also included a bicycle ride into a fence that knocked out a front tooth!
San Antonio, TX, gave him a part-time job at Handy Andy Grocery, as he graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS – 1960 and attended San Antonio College (There he found his “To be” partner at the SAC “Round Table” and married Sharon Isaacs in 1966). He also attended Sul Ross University & Texas A&M, before finishing his BA in Mathematics from St. Mary’s University – 1970.
A significant turning point in his career choices occurred when he enrolled in a LaSalle Extension University course #400 on Computer Programing Training. It set his path and opened doors!
Air Force veteran, Sgt. Parker’s Military career included: Enlisted Air Force Reserve 922 Mat. Sq. Kelly AFB 1965 – and Active Duty – 433d Air Lift Wing.

Civil Service Career– 1964 US Security Service, 1973 Computer Specialist, 1979 Lead Programmer for AF Cryptologic Depo., 1980-84 Systems Manager, 1984-88 Deputy Chief at RAF Chicksands, UK – GS13. 1988-94, Medina Annex Lackland AFB, *1994 Retired*!! He received several Letters of Appreciation from Joint Operations Chicksands; Central Security Service Europe, divisions of the National Security Agency, and from the National Security Agency Europe for outstanding technical contributions & Superior performance. 1994 – 2000 Civilian Contractor – Brooks Armstrong Labs, MANTECH & ADTECH.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree; National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion, Life Member North American Fishing Club.
Lloyd Wayne received a kidney transplant on March 2, 2002, at University Health Science Center Hosp. after 3 ½ years on Dialysis and became an enthusiastic volunteer to promote Organ Donation participating in an array of donation initiatives from run/walks, health fairs, to speaking engagements. In 2007 Lloyd and his wife, Sharon, were named Volunteers of the Year and received the honorable Joan Wish Volunteer Award. He was so grateful to his donor and all donor families.
Volunteering: He was also an eager volunteer for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts: an expert at making fires, chicken cooking, safety and outdoor survival skills; CYO Soccer coach for many years at St. Paul’s Catholic School and Our Lady of Guadalupe Helotes, including OLG CYO President.
Life Loves: Rock Port Gulf Coast Fishing!! Cars!! from the 1st Plymouth Fury to a forever love of working on all things that go—even pinewood derby models, Bowling, Pinball, Music, Friends, Okra gumbo, Chili, and his work. He was a builder and used the skills to double in size the home on Parker Hill, and designed a new home. He could fix anything with a little duct tape and chewing gum– a “Jack of All Trades & Projects.”
He even joined the Catholic Contemporary Folk Choir at RAF Chicksands, Bedford, UK.
He was an organic backyard gardener, the green beans were great!
A love of travel - from our National Parks to Hawaii to Canada to Acapulco, to Europe with 4 years at USAF – RAF Chicksands, Bedfordshire, UK.
Lloyd Wayne was a man who always gave a helping hand to others – he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
