Leroy Peña Lucio, of Saspamco, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2020 from complications of the Coronavirus / COVID-19. Leroy was born June 5, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas to Miguel and Concepcion Lucio.
Leroy attended Floresville High School where before every school day he took care of cattle on his uncle’s ranch. Soon after high school he attended the local community college, where he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a public servant. His passion of becoming an EMT-Paramedic was fulfilled when he was hired by fire departments in Kirby and University City to be a frontline paramedic.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife Lala, sons Andy Lares and Michael Lucio, daughter Elanie Hernandez and her children, sister Gloria Torres and husband Thomas, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal parents Miguel and Concepcion Lucio, sister Mary Helen, and his loving grandparents.
Leroy enjoyed being a supportive family man, building projects and working at his beautiful ranch in Saspamco. During their free time together, Lala and Leroy enjoyed outings with friends and family, along with camping, hunting, fishing and, most of all, karaoke singing the night away. These outings included Ernest and Virginia and Thomas and Noel. Leroy was a proud member of Houston Fire Department Station 103. He entered the department December 10, 1990 where he mentored many young firefighters as an older member of his academy class. His service as a Firefighter Paramedic and member of District 19 demonstrated his strong character as a classic Houston Firefighter.
The family gives special thanks to the Houston Fire Department brotherhood for the support during this terrible time of complications of the hated COVID-19.
Immediately following the service, a private interment will be held at the Lucio Cemetery where many of the Lucio family and friends are laid to rest.
