Larry Warren Wilson, age 77, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2015. He was born on July 16, 1938 in Webster Groves, Missouri to Glenn and Jewel Wilson. He was a loving husband, devoted father, brother, and friend.
Growing up as the son of a mechanic, he developed his knowledge and interest of automobiles that he carried with him throughout his career. Larry graduated from Waynesville High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, and served in the Army National Guard. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a degree in Business Administration. Larry traveled nationwide as a sales representative for Echlin Manufacturing Company. It was during this time he met and married the love of his life Carol. As his career progressed, he joined the Genuine Parts Company, serving as the sales manager of NAPA in Dallas. He was transferred to San Antonio where he served as sales manager prior to being promoted to President of NAPA San Antonio.
Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, and was active in the Boy Scouts with his son Christopher, attending numerous campouts and hiking treks. He was an avid Spurs and Cowboys fan, and eventually a TCU Horned Frogs fan, where his children received their degrees. Above all he enjoyed being with his family, and loved taking them on vacations around the country.
Larry was extremely personable, and never met a stranger. Anyone who spent time with Larry was a friend, and those who knew him appreciated his storytelling, and enjoyed his sense of humor.
He was always supportive of the U.S. Armed Forces, and was concerned about the welfare of Veterans.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Clyde and Darrell Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Wilson; children, Kimberly Anne Wilson and fiancé Jeff Trykoski of Dallas, Texas; Christopher Ryan Wilson and fiancé Michelle Allen of Stamford, Connecticut; brother Dr. Leroy Wilson, and several nieces and nephews.
Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 3 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com
