Colonel Kouros Bahrami, age 83, passed away on March 19, 2018, in San Antonio, TX surrounded by his loving family. Kouros was born to Mohamad Gholi and Fatemeh Bahrami in Sanandaj, Iran on March 18th, 1935.
Mr. Bahrami was a man of many trades. In the Iranian military, he received his Masters in Economics and in Law. He became a well respected attack-helicopter pilot and instructor, qualified to fly different aircrafts including the UH1, Cobra, Boeing CH-47 Chinook, UAV helicopters and Fixed-wing aircrafts, as well as becoming a test pilot for the Iranian built TOW missile. He was 2nd in command in charge of the military base in Isfahan, Iran and fought in the Omon War against Communist insurgents. He was also a former Iranian defense ministry representative and won multiple awards, including a medal for saving villagers during an earthquake relief, and coordinating rescue efforts that saved lives in many major flood disasters.
In 1979, Kouros and his family moved to America where he became a successful business entrepreneur, investing in real estate, constructing several homes, and owning the Deanos Discount Liquor stores.
But his most significant accomplishment and legacy was being the most supportive and loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He made certain they knew he loved them and that they were his priority.
He was a man of honor, great character and principle. He was generous to a fault and forgiving. He gave many individuals chances and opportunities they may not have had otherwise. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Frances D. Bahrami; children, Kambiz J. Bahrami (Senka) and Kati Bahrami-Golub (Steven); grandchildren, Hannah Ariana Bahrami and Trinity Roya Zurovec; sister, Mehrangiz Bahrami (Bahman Behrooz), brother, Reza Bahrami (Shahla) and brother, Parviz Bahrami (Mahdokhd). Kouros was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Farangiz Ghaffarzadeh (Mohammad Taghi Ghaffarzadeh), step brother Ezat-Allah Bahrami and Khanoom Ballau Bahrami.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough.
