Kenneth Weaver, at the age of 69, went to be with our Lord February 18, 2010 after a short battle but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born in Beards Fork, West Virginia July 7, 1940 to Lawrence Kenneth Weaver and Florence Rachel Stover. Ken served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1957-1978, where he retired as a First Sergeant E-8. After retirement Ken worked for Civil Service at Ft. Sam Houston, and retired in 1994. Since then he has volunteered for the San Antonio Police Department serving as President of the Alumni association for Citizens Police Academy and for Public Safety Team. He served on the Chief’s Advisory Board and volunteered his time organizing his sub-division’s National Night Out. Ken was an Auctioneer and owned his own auction company. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was proud to help with Luther League activities. He loved to go fishing and hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Ken is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Weaver; mother, Florence Rachel Gray; step-father, Joseph Gray; and brother, Raymond Weaver. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Madeline Weaver; daughters Deborah Johnson & Joanna Osburg; son’s in-law Dennis Johnson & Dwayne Osburg; two grandchildren, Brittany Weaver-Johnson, age 15 & Jonathan Osburg, age 8; two sisters, Ruth Ann White & Nancy Fletcher; and life long friends, Charlie and Charlette Dockens. The visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Sunset North Funeral Home on 1604. Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 502 E. Nueva on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.. Interment will be held at 1:15 P.M. Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
