On the evening of Tuesday, January 4, 2022, Juanita Gonzalez Flores (known as Mom, Ma, Grandma and Mama Nina) passed away peacefully at the age of 81. She was surrounded by family at her side. She was born March 8, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas. She met and married her loving husband Jose Flores in San Antonio, Texas. They married on April 30, 1962. They had three amazing children, Hector, Beatrice and Rosa Linda. She entered the workforce after being widowed at the age of 32. She played the role of Father and Mother in a time when that wasn't common. Despite these struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home for her children while working tirelessly to provide opportunities for them. When she no longer was able to work and care for herself, her son Hector and daughters' Beatrice and Rosa Linda helped each other in taking care of their Mother until her last day.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Flores, parents Mateo and Faustina Gonzalez and brothers' Andrew and Cruz Gonzalez. Juanita never remarried after the death of her husband.
She is survived by her son Hector Flores (Esmeralda) and daughters' Beatrice Olivarez (Ralph) and Rosa Linda Flores. She is survived by her brother Javier Gonzalez (Rosy). She has seven grandchildren: Erica (David), Vanessa (Rudy), Jose, Timothy, Allison, Sarah (Travis) and Christina. She has six great-grandchildren: Abigail, Naomi, Rachel, Evelyn, Vivian, Ruby, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She loved taking family trips to Corpus Christi in her green car "the turtle". She enjoyed listening to mariachi music. Her favorite music artist was Vicente (Chente) Fernandez. She loved to dance and her home cooked meals were always delicious. Juanita was a strong, determined and independent woman. Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Jose and Juanita are together again. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Family will be receiving guest for a visitation on Monday January 17, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, Texas. A prayer service will be recited at 6:30 PM by Pastor Juan Ruiz. Rosary will Follow at 7:00 PM. A mass of resurrection will be held at 10:00 am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 130 S San Augustine Ave, San Antonio, TX 78237. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
Facial coverings are recommended to be worn while in the funeral home chapel.
