Sgt. Juan Ruiz Gonzalez, U.S. Army Veteran, born on August 21, 1920 in Seguin, TX was called to be with our Lord on April 1, 2016 at the age of 95. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Olga G. Gonzalez; parents, Claro and Magdalena Gonzalez; son, Juan M. Gonzalez, granddaughter-in-law, Celeste Amaro, brothers, Santiago, Francisco and Pedro Gonzalez; sisters, Augustina Carrizalez and Cristina Belmarez. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jesusa (Susie) G. and Joe A. Amaro; daughter-in-law, Irene Gonzalez; brother, Carmelo Gonzalez; grandchildren, Lynnette (Greg), Stephanie, Joey (Laura), Joe Jr. and John Mike; great grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy), Alyssa, Destiny, Joey Jr., Dynasty, Jeremy, Diamond, Divinity, Neomiah and Joe Angel; great great granddaughter, Starlyn; also, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will depart from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
