Jose Humberto Rodriguez 89, is now resting in the comforting arms of his loving God. He was born January 23, 1930 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and passed away on October 22, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Martha Hernandez.
He survived by his loving wife Rosa Rodriguez, Children: Gloria Zurita (Felipe), Jose H Rodriguez Jr. (Rosalinda), Blanca Rosales (Ray), Arturo Rodriguez (Monica), Elizabeth Rodriguez and Jennifer Rodriguez.
He was a proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Growing up in the ranchlands of Mexico, he was a true cowboy who rode horses, roped cattle, hunted venison, and slept under the starry moonlit skies. He made his own natural rope and tequila from the native plants found on the land and learned to churn his own butter.
Seeking a better life for his family, he legally emigrated to the USA and worked two back-to-back full-time jobs to put food on the table and buy a small home on San Antonio's Westside. There he raised a happy family.
Jose taught himself to speak read and write English and he studied and achieved a State of Texas certification in the principles of advanced refrigeration, installation and repair. His skills kept him in demand throughout San Antonio's Westside for many years and allowed him to put his children through college.
A man who knew how to live off the land, he had 15 productive fruit trees, a vast herb garden, and the best manicured lawn on the block. He was a man of pride.
Jose was never afraid of professing his faith and love for Jesus Christ, his savior. God prepared a special place in heaven for Jose; he now rests in the eternal arms of his creator.
