Just within the past hour, I looked for info on Ssgt. Jack Bales. I was so saddened to hear of his passing 8 years ago. He was a wonderful TI that I had the honor of being trained by for a great USAF life.  I was also a Flightmate of Jerry Veno. In January through March of 1973, I "found" Ssgt. Bales in the motorpool at Utapao  AF in Thailand.  I took lots of pictures and still have a working cassette tape conversation with him. On our first day of Basic Training we got some extra sleep and when Ssgt. Bales came in he told us he had been up really late due to his son having a fever. You can never forget a man like him.  Sincere condolences to the Bales family. 


I just found about about Sgt Bales passing.   He was my TI at Lackland AFB in November & December 1970.   I just wanted to let you all know of the utmost respect I had/have for this man as he positively impacted my life more than any other person I ever met. I wish I had been able to contact him when he was alive and let him know this.  May he rest in peace.

To everyone who Santa Jack, I will never forget him. He came to my home on Christmas eve and my grandchildren were amazed at him (Santa)  and how he found them at Grandmas and Grandpas house. We have pictures of us all sitting on his knee, sorry Jack, and he was the best 
santa I ever came across. He was gentle, caring and very kind. Now that my husband is no longer here on this earth, I have those pictures to make me and my family smiles. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Jack and Mrs Santa Claus. I will miss him and his jolly grin. May he rest in peace.

There will never be anyone like Jack Bales, he was a great man one of my favorites. Jack was my mentor and santa every year growing up and will continue to be for the rest of my life. Jack was the type of man that projected greatness and kindness, i wish i was more like him and wished the world lived more like Jack, it would be an all around better place. My heart goes out to shirly and the rest of Jacks family my prayers will always be with you and Jack.

Shirley, I was just remembering our visit when you came through Abilene. You went to the wrong church first. :)  Then we went to IHop for brunch.  Jack had so much fun with the waitress, he kept us laughing.  We really enjoyed our visit with you.
I know your heart is broken, just wish we could make the hurt go away.  Glad you have your family with you and you know God is there by your side always.

To Jacks children, we are sorry for your loss of a father and grandfather.  I know he loved you much and he will be missed.

jack as i called him was my godfather and i loved him dearly he was a shining example to me and when i joined the fire service he called me and told me how proud he was of me , i wish i could be there but i can not get my mom to come and as my father passed some years back imust take care of her. her and my dad knew jack for a long time way back to his teen years and she was very upset at his passing she told me that her and dad and jack had some of the most wonderful times together when they were young and just starting out in the service.  may god bless your family and comfort you and we shall all see jack and my dad in heaven where they are catching up on old times i am sure of it . god bless you and ill miss him.
