Joe Morin De La Garza Jr.

Joe M. De La Garza was a beloved, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Joe was called home to be with the Lord, on August 18, 2016 at the age of 85, in San Antonio Texas. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Anna M. & Jose Maria De La Garza. Joe was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, retired from Kelly Air Force Base after 30 years of services, as a maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed coaching baseball CYO boys and girls teams, many times he lead them to the championships. He was a great man and will be greatly missed. Joe is survived by his loving wife, of 59 years of marriage, Madeline G. De La Garza, his beloved children; George David De La Garza, Rebecca Ann Garcia (Robert), Diana Marie Malavolta(Rocky), Yvette Cosentino (Michael), Yvonne Rodriguez (Jaime), his adorable grandchildren; Jordan, Celeste, Mariah, Christopher, Hannah, Elijah, Aaron and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Family would like to give a special thank you, to the staff at AutumnGrove Cottage at Deerfield (Blanco) and the Heart To Heart hospice staff, for all the love and care that was given to their love one and their family. A visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East. Everyone will meet at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate, on Thursday, August 25, 2016 for a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection, with Military Honors and Interment to follow at 10:45 a.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family would like tribute donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or American Heart Association.
