Jerry Allen Moore

SFC Jerry Allen Moore (Ret.), beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born January 28, 1928 to William Allen and Nell Marie (Kershaw) Moore in Dallas, TX. He earned his associate’s degree from San Antonio College in 1966 and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Incarnate Word College in 1971 and 1973 respectively. Jerry served his country honorably in both the United States Navy, from 1945 to 1947 and the United States Army from 1949 to 1967, serving during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement, he worked at the Southwest Research Foundation until 1988.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret “Peggy” Moore and his beloved son, Jerry Allen Moore, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Cronkhite and Janet Smith; grandchildren, Jerry Moore III, Jason Cronkhite, Misty Moore, Jimmy Smith, Bryan Cronkhite and Jennifer Smith; great-grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Jacob Moore, Allison Moore, Jared Moore, Myriam Cronkhite, Kendall Cronkhite, Madelynn Cronkhite, Abby Smith and Connor Cronkhite; brother, Don Moore.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 12:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX. A private inurnment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
