Janet Haynes

Janet Walker Haynes passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, Sunday, April 24, 2022 after suffering a massive stroke two days prior. She was born on August 25, 1936 in Long Island, New York. As a child her family moved to Miami, Florida where she was raised and graduated from Notre Dame Academy for girls, in 1954.

She worked until she met the love of her life, Charles "Pete" Haynes and married in 1962. They moved to Pittsburgh, PA, for 4 years then Houston, Texas, in 1969, where they lived and raised two children, Bud and Charlene for many years. Janet was an accomplished pianist and organist at her church as well as an avid golfer who won the Club Championship at Champions Golf Club in Houston. She loved traveling with her husband, gardening, sewing, riding their beloved horses, and had many pets she adored.

In retirement, Janet and Pete moved to their ranch near Huntsville, Texas where they spent 20 wonderful years. They then moved to Conroe followed by their final home near their daughter in San Antonio, TX in 2011.

Janet is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Pete, and her son, Randall "Bud" Haynes. She is survived by her grandsons, Matthew and Jacob Haynes and their mother Cathy Williams and her husband, Rocky, loving daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Charlene Haynes and Jeffery Specht as well as her "extra" daughter Shari Asbill Hernandez and her husband Diego.

Janet was joyfully fulfilled as a wife for over 50 years, the best Mom and Grandmother and will always be remembered for the love she showed her family. Her smile will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. Many thanks to Dr. Christopher Burdick, Rolando and Jillian at Methodist for their expert care and kindness in her final hours. Janet's favorite charities were Animal Defense League, Last Chance Forever, and Wildlife Rescue, or any Animal cause.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00, April 29th, 2022 at Sunset North Funeral Home, San Antonio TX.
