James Michael Roguski went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2019. He was born September 10, 1944 in North Attleborough, MA to William and Marie Roguski. Jim served 35 years in the military, and he retired as a Sergeant Major of Logistics in the Texas Army National Guard in 2004.
Jim had a passion for volunteering for many organizations, including the San Antonio Livestock Exposition for 38 years on various committees reaching the recognition of Director Emeritus. For the Valero Texas Open, he gave nine years of service on the Refreshers committee, serving as Chairmen for the past 3 years. Others include the Battle of Flowers parade, Guard Fiesta, NIOSA, the Walter Gerlach and Bexar County Livestock Shows, and the James Madison Agriscience Program.
Every Tuesday and Sunday you could find Jim on a golf course or on a fishing boat if he was in Maine. As a squire, Jim loved caring for his plot of land in Lynchburg, TN at the Jack Daniels Distillery, collecting, and drinking a Jack & water. His other hobbies included woodworking, hunting, and being a Master Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Millie Kneeland, and wife Cynthia Roguski. He is survived by his daughters Tammy Carpenter and husband Steve of San Antonio, TX, Kym Roguski and wife Pamela Schmecht of Ft. Worth; Grandchildren Casey Parsons and husband Collin of Stephenville, TX; Clayton Roguski of Kingsville, TX; Jamie Carpenter of Stephenville, TX; brother Larry Roguski, niece Lana and Chris Gulesian, nephew Jimmy and Andrea Kneeland of Maine, and adopted son Chris Hines of Kansas and numerous nieces & nephews and brothers in law.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 from 7 to 10 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home. The viewing will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:30 AM with the funeral to follow at 12:30 at Sunset North Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jim asked to continue supporting the youth at the Walter Gerlach Livestock Show. Please send donations to P.O. Box 781 Helotes, TX 78023 in memory of James Roguski.
