James Perez

James had three passions in his life: his wife Celina, Music and Motorcycles. Was born on July 7, 1968 in Brownsville, TX and passed on April 13, 2011 in San Antonio, TX. He began playing music at an early age on a drum set his grandfather gave him. His love of music led him to singing, playing the guitar and the bass.

After graduating from Gladys Porter High School in 1986 he attended Texas Southmost College as a music major. He traveled the US & Canada with Shotgun Sally, opening for several acts including Nazareth and the Black Crowes. He returned to Brownsville and was a member of The Three Blind Mice (Ratones Ciegos).

James then moved to San Antonio to marry Celina Terrones, also of Brownsville. He attended San Antonio College majoring in Radio, Television and Film. He was employed at Money Mart Pawn where he designed their famous Mr. M logo. He maintained a project studio, On the Moon Productions, and for the past 6 years has worked with UTSA as an Audio Visual Technician. He has played with several bands in San Antonio including his personal project Karnaval. For the past few years he has hosted open mics at the Lion and Rose. There was not a stage he did not like.

James rode his Harley Davidson Road King Classic every chance he could get. He was a member of Caliente HOG where he met and rode many miles with good friends. He made us smile, he made us laugh. James will be remembered with wind in his hair and a guitar in his hand. James was preceded in death by his father, Baltazar Perez and grandparents, Santiago and Rafaela Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife, Celina Terrones Perez; mother, Ramona Perez; brothers, Baltazar Perez Jr. Henry Perez and wife Rocio, Juan Francisco Perez; Father-in-law, Fernando Terrones and wife Rosa; mother-in-law, Melva C. Viera and husband Richard; sister-in-law, Cristina Viera; nieces, Sofia Perez and Anafernanda Perez. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a service at 7:00 P.M.
