Irene Haning

Annie “Irene” Haning went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Melvin, Texas on February 4, 1924. Irene was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband, a disabled veteran, for many years; a devoted mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, and loyal friend to many. Irene was a member of Castle Hill First Baptist Church since 1952 where she taught Kindergarten for many years. She also worked in Civil Service at Lackland AFB and Camp Bullis, where she received many awards for her service.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Emma Dawson; her husband, James Haning; her siblings, Alice Hoegenauer, and Robert Dawson. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Haning (Cheryl Niestemski), and David Haning (Molly Rodriguez); her grandchildren, Christine Haning (Caleb Grusing), Christopher Haning (Audrey), Shannon Haning, Shaun Niestemski, and Joseph Niestemski; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday, May 6th from 1:30-5:00 pm. The Funeral Service will at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 7th at 12:00 pm with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
