Ian Randolph Buxton passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, April 10 after his struggle with cancer. He was born December 3, 1981 in Suwon, Republic of Korea to parents Dennis and Son Buxton. Ian attended Taft and Challenge High Schools in San Antonio. He became a proud Marine and served his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his military service he attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He then began his career with Discount Tire in Lubbock and Oklahoma and worked as an assistant manager until his passing. Ian was an avid golfer and pool player. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ian is survived by his mother, Son C. Buxton (nee Choe); his father, Dennis R. Buxton; brother, Derek D. Buxton of San Antonio; grandmother, Julie Kanchana Buxton-Kwok of Chieng Mai, Thailand; grandmother, Kim Wol Sun of Toejon, Republic of Korea; Uncle, Bill Buxton of Campbell, California; Aunt, Son Yong Curran of St. Augustine, Florida; numerous cousins and his beloved canine companion, Bella.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16 from 5PM to 9PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Tee Junior Golf Program of San Antonio, www.thefirsttee.org.
