Helen M. Rodriguez wonderful beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 at the age of 91. Helen was born on August 15, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas. She married the love of her life Rudy V. Rodriguez on March 18, 1946. They were married for 31 years and she never remarried after his passing. They had three wonderful children together. Helen worked for SAISD for 25 years and was loved by many. She enjoyed making ceramics, painting, and baking. She especially enjoyed making cookies for the holidays along with decorating her home. She won 1st place during the Christmas time for the most decorated house. The following year she came in 2nd place. Her hobbies included sewing, making blankets, and Christmas stockings for her great grandchildren. She loved going out to the stores and finding the best deals, making her a good bargain shopper. She loved driving her 1979 Chevy Malibu that she even got caught speeding and earning the nickname “Hot Rod Grandma”. Her number one passion was spending time with the family and having all her great grandchildren together, enjoying all the fun time while making great memories that will last us a lifetime.

She is survived by her daughter Eva Linda R. (Hector) Valdez, daughter in law Hendrika Rodriguez, granddaughters Tina (John) Morales, Araceli (Robert) Rey, Ariana (Alan) Valdez, Marilisa (Mark) Gamez, Dariela (Kim) Rodriguez, 6 great granddaughters, and 6 great grandsons.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 23 from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM. Memorial Rosary will start at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Monica’s Catholic Church; 501 North St.; Converse, TX 78109 at 11:00 AM, Thursday May 24th with interment to follow at San Fernando Burial Park II; 746 Castroville, TX 78237.
