After graduating high school, Hattie joined the Army in 1962 and was in the Women’s Army Corp stationed at West Point United States Military Academy where she worked in Medical Administration. While stationed at West Point, Hattie met Charlie and they were married six months later. Hattie was a devoted wife and mother and after her daughters were grown, Hattie and Charlie became foster parents where they fostered 18 children over the years.
Hattie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Charlie and her daughters, Anita Wells, Carol (Ray) Parker and Tera Wells. Hattie will also be forever remembered by her eight grandchildren, Crystal, Brandi, Charlie, Jessica, Daniel, Younique, Michael and Jimmy, her four great grandchildren, Mason, Zoey, Jasiah and Jase and her two brothers, Butch and Webb.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving and extremely respectful care provided by her nurse, Kat and the staff at The Heights on Huebner and Mike M. and the staff at Vitas Healthcare. A visitation in memory of Hattie will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
