Gudelia Flores Rios

Gudelia Flores Rios, a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on October 8, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born on April 24, 1927, in San Antonio, Texas to Adelina Sanchez and Melqiades Flores. Gudelia lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family.

While she was primarily a homemaker, Gudelia also worked at several notable places throughout her life, including Fine Silver, Judson Candy, and Mission Provision, where she worked hard to help provide for her family. She often shared stories from her working years, reminiscing about her experiences and the memories from her youth. In her younger years, Gudelia’s talents extended beyond her home and work life. She once participated in a singing competition at a local theater, winning first place and a fruit basket, a memory she would fondly recount.

Family was the center of Gudelia's world. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and cherished the simple joys of life, such as visiting the Brackenridge Park, the San Antonio Zoo and enjoying meals at local restaurants. Gudelia was also a passionate pet lover, always surrounded by her beloved birds and dogs, who brought her great comfort.

A devout Catholic, Gudelia's faith was a guiding light in her life. She often prayed for her family and found peace in reciting the rosary, a daily practice that brought her comfort and strength. Her devotion was evident in the way she lived her life, always caring for others with kindness and grace.

She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Adelina and Melqiades Flores; husband, Frank V. Rios Sr.; children, Frank Ortiz, Eddie, Ortiz, Genevieve Amaya, Frank Rios Jr, and Roger F. Rios. Siblings, Melchor, Emilio, Manuel, Francis, Jesse.

Gudelia’s memory will forever live in the hearts of her children, Sylvia (Ed), Ruby, Belinda (Oscar), Rita (Robert), Tommy (Dorothy), and Steve F. Rios (Leticia); her siblings Esperanza, Olivia, Herminia, George, Yolanda, and Juanita. She was fortunate to have numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by the large extended family and numerous neighbors and friends.

A visitation for Gudelia will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A mariachi will occur Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 5:30 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Treviño Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, Texas 78237. A rosary service will occur Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 6:30 PM, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A mass of the resurrection will occur Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 1321 El Paso Street, San Antonio, Texas 78207. A committal service will occur Friday, October 18, 2024 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
