Gilbert V. Hernandez

Gilbert V. Hernandez was born February 20, 1933 to the late Arturo and Elisa Hernandez. He passed away at the age of 84 peacefully on the evening of March 29, 2017 in his home surrounded by Family and friends. He is survived by his wife Emma Hernandez of 63 years. One surviving brother, Larry Hernandez, two sons, John Hernandez and wife Bertha, Gabriel Hernandez, one daughter, Belinda Hernandez. Five grandchildren: Christina Hernandez, William Thomas, Eric Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez and Olivia Hernandez; 4 great grandchildren, Jude C. Davila, Victoria Thomas, Paulina Hernandez and William Jackson Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road. The 2nd viewing is at 10:00 am then Mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 159 Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio, Texas 78228 with Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. He served 3 years in the Army then was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant / staff Sergeant in 1961 then dedicated himself to his wife , family, and career as a speech pathologist. He earned his undergraduate degree at Trinity University then his MA at UT Austin. He loved his “Horns” He will always be remembered as a respectful and loving person.
