Everett Patrick Bennett, Ben was born in the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. on June10, 1931 to James Everett & Wyladyslawa (Penickter) Bennett and passed away on October 30, 2012 in San Antonio, TX. He has been a resident of Texas since 1955. Ben was a veteran of the U.S. Army, discharged in 1954. He was a volunteer with the Olmos Park Fire Department in the 60’s and was employed by the San Antonio Fire Department for many years. Ben was very active in the American Legion and VFW Post #2059 & #837 and the COOTIES. He and his wife, Dora were Certified Clowns and spent many hours entertaining the residents of nursing homes, patients at BAMC and children’s hospitals. In addition to all his volunteer work, he was a Master Baker and call on to create cakes for many organizations. Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Dora M. Bennett. Surviving are his sons, Michael Everett Bennett, Patrick Andrew Bennett; daughters, Debra Newman, Rhoda Keihn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
