Evelyn Agnes "Popp" Theis

Evelyn Popp Theis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. She was born May 23, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to Adolph and Agnes Krenek Popp. She graduated from St. Gerards High School and attended Draughan’s Business College. Her first job was to serve as a medical secretary at Ft. Sam Houston.

She married Gerald Theis in 1954 and was a devoted wife and mother, and helped raise their three sons. During this time period, she taught modeling for the Barbizon Modeling Agency.

She loved being an active member in numerous clubs and organizations, including the Fair Oaks Ranch Women’s Club, the Boerne Historical Society, the Friends of Hospice, the Kendall County Republican Women’s Club, and the Academy of Learning in Retirement.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Agnes Popp, her sister JoAnn Popp Kalmus, and her niece Jennifer Popp.

She is survived by her husband Gerald E. Theis, her sons Keith and wife Pam, Kirk and wife Judy, Kyle and wife Ashley, and her grandchildren Kevin Theis, Lindsey Theis, Heather Theis Mercado and husband Ryan Mercado, Kirsten Theis, Alex Theis, Emily Theis, Charlotte Theis, and great grandchild Lilah Mercado; brother John Popp and wife Janet, sister Irene (Cookie) McCoy and husband Jim, sister Sharon Crelia and husband Weldon, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Evelyn was a beautiful lady that will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, at Sunset Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 3:00 p.m.

A funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, San Antonio, Texas.
