Our beloved mother Eulogia M. Rivera, 93 was one of the strongest and kindhearted women to walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. On October 14, 2021, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Eulogia, a loving and dedicated mother to three children, was brought into this world on March 3, 1928, in San Antonio, Texas, to her parents Miguel and Guadalupe Menchaca who preceded her in death.
In 1955, Eulogia married her one and only love, Humberto De La Cerda Rivera, who preceded her in death in December 2020 after 65 years of marriage. She loved to share their love story about how they fell in love on the dance floor while on her annual trip to San Buenaventura’s ferias. Eulogia was a wonderful and loving mother who shared her kindness, heritage, wisdom, spirituality, and sense of humor. She elevated everyone with whom she encountered with her regal presence. Everyone that met her would leave feeling loved and encouraged. We will never be able to fill the space she left behind.
Eulogia was preceded in death by her sister Minerva Menchaca, her brothers Efrain and Samuel Menchaca, and her grandson Francisco Pereda, Jr. She is survived by her brother Fausto Menchaca; her children Anna Maria Pereda (Francisco), Humberto Rivera, Jr. (Cynthia) and Hector Rivera (Monica). Her grandchildren Clarissa Pereda, Jason and Jacob Rivera, Christian, Alejandro, Andrew Rivera, and Matthew Trimble. Her great grandchildren Preston Miller and Sara Rivera and her many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Her children Anna Maria, Humberto Jr. and Hector would like to personally thank her caregivers: Angelica Mendoza, Emma Menchaca and Maria De Los Santos for being there with our mom, Eulogia. Thank you for your kindness, your compassionate care and loving her like she was your mom. We would also like to thank her nieces Judith Lily and Bernadette Pena for making her beautiful for her final journey. We will forever be grateful for all you did for our mom. As my mom would say-“’Que Dios se los pague.”
Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the staff and nurses of Three Oaks Hospice Care. Thank you for the compassionate, kind, and loving care you gave to our mother for the past year and of her. God bless each and every one of you for the work you do.
