Msgt.Eugene C. Holliday (Ret), beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away suddenly at the age of 88, in Boerne, Texas. He was born in Ronceverte, West Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat (Priddy) Holliday, Sisters: Sue Anderson and Pat Dean: Son, Michael Holliday (Annie), daughters, Myrna Saavedra (Abelardo), Kathleen Todd and Susie Sharp.
Stepchildren: Mary Putnam (Thad), Denise Duchaine (Glenn), Michelle Molina (Bill), Paul Priddy (Patty) and Chris Priddy (Sal). Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great, Great Grandchildren, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Gene joined the Air Force at age 16 with basic training in Wichita Falls, Texas. He served in the Korean and Vietnam War. He received The Air Medal and distinguished himself by meritorious achievement while participating in sustained aerial flight, as Flight Engineer with 6091st Reconnaissance Squadron, from April 3, 1962 to October 1, 1963. During this period, his airmanship and courage was exhibited in the successful accomplishment of important reconnaissance missions, under extremely hazardous conditions, demonstrated his outstanding proficiency and steadfast devotion to duty. The professional ability and outstanding aerial accomplishments of Sergeant Holliday reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. He retired after 25 years of service.
Upon retirement he owned and operated Century 21 –Gene Holliday and Associates on Bandera Road. He was in the Real Estate Business for over 30 years and was a very successful Broker making many friends along the way.
Gene was a very talented stain glass artist, painter and wood carver. He loved to make these things and give them away to many friends and family. He was an avid reader with the love of history, architecture, and art. He loved to travel all over the world. He had a great sense of humor always joking and cheering up loved ones. We will miss him greatly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Holliday and Aileen Fischer: Brother, Palmer Holliday (Jan); Wife, Maria Remy Holliday, and Son, Eugene C. Holliday Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 202 W Kronkosky St. Boerne, Texas 78006, with reception following. Interment will follow in Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach at 2:00 p.m. in Shelter 1.
