She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Joe M. Martinez. Brothers Arturo Tamez, Arnulfo Tamez and Rodolfo Tamez. Sisters Margarita T. Suarez, Mary T. Rambo and Rebecca T. Sanchez.
Hope is survived by her sister Aurora T. Belton; her children Joe S. Martinez and wife Connie H. Martinez, Paul D. Martinez and wife Cynthia C. Martinez, Edward J. Martinez. Her grandchildren Justin D. Martinez, Michele R. Salas and husband Angel O. Salas, Joseph C. Martinez, Steven C. Martinez and Julian A. Martinez. Her great-granddaughter Hannah M. Ayuso, along with many nephews and nieces.
Mom had many interests in her life. Volunteering at the Palm Heights little League concession stand. Being a part of the voting (polling) booth at St. James. Sharing her leadership skills at the Collins Garden Public Library. Very active participant with the P.T.A. She was a very Spiritual women, often times reading the bible during her quite times. One of her favorite past times would be spending many nights sitting in the back yard talking the night away with Dad. Friday night was date night!!! Going to different functions, dancing the night away with her husband, family and friends was always a fun experience. Bunco night with the girls was something that she would always look forward to earnestly. Mom hosted countless parties at her home on Ellana Claire Ct. and made it a wonderful experience. They traveled when given the opportunity, Hawaii, Mexico City, San Francisco, Las Vegas and many other enjoyable locations. She was definitely a Social Butterfly. Now we save the best for last, her Cooking!!! Where do we start, enchiladas, chicken mole, home made tamales, Christmas cookies...etc.etc.etc. Her award winning Menudo was such a New Years treat. Well, I thought it deserved an award.
She was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans, and attended many functions at St. James.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Apostle Church- 907 W. Theo Ave. 78225 on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 am, with burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
