Ed was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 14, 1951 to Edward Louis Plante and Elvina Magras. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rosie T. Plante (née Huynh); two children, Andrew E. Plante (and daughter-in-law Linda), and Susan A. Fitzsimmons (and son-in-law Michael); his six grandchildren, Eilleen Plante, Andrew Plante Jr., Edward Fitzsimmons, James Fitzsimmons, Margaret Fitzsimmons, and Johnathan Fitzsimmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He joined the Army in 1971 at the age of 19 and proudly served his country for 22 years. Ed finished up his working career with over 10 years as a dedicated HEB Partner.
Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He willingly and selflessly spent much of his adult life assisting his wife Rosie in bringing her siblings to the U.S. from Vietnam. He continually guided and mentored his in-laws over the years to ensure their success in this country.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. (1701 Austin Highway) followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
