‘Farewell to my Father-In-Law”

Farewell Mr. Brookbank, you will be deeply missed. You were a great man. I want to thank you for accepting me into your family. I have enjoyed every family event that we spent together. Your kindness and generosity was unmatched. I will miss sitting across from you at the dinner table and miss our one to one chats. 

I am honored to have you as my father-in-law. Your kindness to others and warm personality were great attributes that you had. I will miss you during the holidays, during family cook outs, watching Dallas Cowboy games on the TV together, and mostly I will miss my fishing buddy.

My Dad is the best Dad ever! Growing up he always put me and my brother First. He worked hard to make sure we had a home, food on the table, and clothes on our backs. When his grandkids were born, they became First and my brother and I were Second. Family was always important to him and he loved when we would have family gatherings. My dad was always there when you needed him. He helped family & friends by helping them move, car boost, drinking partner, fishing partner, BBQ cooker, ride to work/school, lending money, or just needed someone to talk to. I will always remember my dad taking me to see “Grease” when I was 3 on Mondays, it was double feature downtown, so he watched his movie and I watched mine for many years…. I will miss his famous BBQ cookouts, summer vacations to the coast and him waiting outside the house with a Taco/Dr. Pepper in the mornings when I dropped off my daughter for school. I will miss his phrases like, “Mija How’s work? How’s the car running? And How’s the kids? I’m grateful that he got to walk me down the aisle and he was there for the birth of his grandchildren. His unexpected passing is hard and I would have liked to say, GoodBye, but I will always love my Daddy. He left me with Good Memories and one day I will see/talk with him again in Heaven.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Belinda Brookbank; his two children, Edward Brookbank and Shannon Martinez – spouse (Andrew); his two grandchildren, Amber Martinez and Andrew Martinez Jr.; his brother, Carlos Brookbank; and numerous family and friends.


He is preceded in death by his mother Caroline Collins; sister, Rose Kleppinger; and grandparents Carmen and Manuel Bernal.
