Chester E. Johnson Sr. age 80, passed away December 31, 2016. He was born on April 11, 1936 in Barton, Ohio to Charles and Emily Johnson. Chester served his country for 28 years in the U.S.A.F. and received an Air Medal Award while serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed playing Santa for 15 years at Brauchle Elementary School, the Nellie Reddix Center, and numerous other locations, donating countless hours to making children smile. He worked hard to receive his GED and earn college credits to be a role model for his family. Chester was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents and 6 siblings, Charles, Paul, Donald, Jack, David and Janet. He is survived by his children, Chester E. Johnson Jr. and wife Tanya, George W. Johnson and wife Marie, Charles E. Johnson II and wife Marsha, Pamela J. Dubay and husband Brian, Stephanie J. Valadez and husband Edward; grandchildren, Justin Aiken, Kathleen (Michael) Cullin, Klaire Johnson, Colby McGhee, John (Sarah) Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Monica Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Jonah Johnson, Kylah Dubay, Travis Dubay, Cameron Valadez and Jordan Valadez, and his beloved chihuahuas, Mollie and Dollie. Chester was a member of the Alamo Area Santas, TOPS and the O.W.L.S. He spent his life blessing other people; his generosity was endless to all who knew him. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Air Force military honors. Pallbearers will be Justin Aiken, Colby McGhee, Travis Dubay, Cameron Valadez, Jordan Valadez, Anthony Johnson, Travis Valadez and Brian Valadez. In lieu of flowers the family request making donations to your favorite children’s charity.
