Celia Alanis Castillo

Our beloved, Celia A. Castillo went to rest Friday, February 13, 2015, at the age of 102. She is survived by her children, Henry Edward Castillo and Pauline Castillo Garza; her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albina and Pablo Alanis; uncle, Gabino and aunt, Pauline Nieto; husband, Demetrio Castillo; son, Cipriano Castillo of California; sister, Julia Estrada of California; brother, Manuel Alanis of California; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celia was born in Zwolle, LA but raised in Rockdale, TX, by her uncle, Gabino and aunt, Pauline Nieto. She married her husband in 1935 and they moved to San Antonio in 1942, where they raised their children. She was a member of St Ann Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar Society and the Guadalupana Society. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many places but her favorites were Italy, Jerusalem, Guatemala and Switzerland.

The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 to celebrate at 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church.
