Carol Adele Cannon Heath, age 95, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Army Residence Community in San Antonio, Texas from congestive heart failure. She was 95 years old. Carol was born February 24, 1928 in San Angelo, Texas to Ina and Frank Cannon. Carol attended Santa Rita Elementary, Central High School In San Angelo, and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. During this time, Carol met the love of her life, Leonard Harold Heath, Air Force Second Lieutenant stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Antonio. Len was in the Air Force so travel and adventure was her life. Len's career took them to Florida, Alabama , Azores, Japan and finally to Mt. Holly, New Jersey. After 21 years in the military, Len retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and took Carol back to her favorite place of all Texas! They settled in Windcrest (San Antonio) for many years where they continued to raise their five children. Carol received a degree in library science and worked at Texas Military Institute. Len and Carol were both actively involved in the Windcrest United Methodist Church. They went dancing on Friday nights and hosted many birthday parties and holidays for their children and grandchildren. Their children include Cherie (Jeff) Davis, Linda(Henry Butch) Varvarovsky, Lisa Heath (decd 1974), Michael (Laura) Heath, and Laurie (Darryl) Taylor. She is also survived by grandchildren Roger Bowlby, Lacy Alison, Sabrina Rinozzi, Ryan Varvarosky, Jesse Martinez, Katie Taylor, and Jenna Taylor, as well as several great-grandchildren. Carol was very moved by the plight of the elephants and loss of habitat and life. She enjoyed her collection of elephants, many given to her by her children. Her children donated to the David Sheldrick Foundation and adopted a young elephant bull named Maktao for her 90th birthday.
