Carol Ann Gilbert

Carol Ann Gilbert, aged 85, passed away on December 15, 2024, in Fredericksburg, Texas. Born on October 24, 1939, Carol led a vibrant life marked by her dedication to education and her zest for travel.

Carol graduated from Cotulla High School and furthered her education at The University of Texas. Her passion for knowledge seamlessly transitioned into a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher, where she nurtured young minds with patience and care.

Known for her outgoing personality, Carol was always the first to embark on a new adventure. A world traveler, she relished the opportunity to explore new destinations, particularly through her love for cruises. Her culinary skills were equally renowned, with friends and family often gathered around her table enjoying her delicious creations.

Carol leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory including her daughter, Lee Ann Gilbert and fiancé, Lalo Reyes of Mason, Tx, nephew Jim Dobie Stokes and wife Allison, of Boerne, Tx, nephew Carr Stokes, and wife Becca, of Boerne, Tx, niece Rebecca Stokes Valley and husband Peter, of Reston, VA, and sister-in-law Becky Stokes, of Boerne, Tx. She was preceded in death by her brother James Stokes, and her parents Irene and W.B. Stokes.

The family would like to thank her loving care givers at Knopp II Nursing & Rehabilitation and Hill Country Methodist Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Carol.

A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Carol's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her spirit of generosity and community.
