Bettylou was born in Butte, Montana to Rogelio and Josephine Guzman on 22 Nov. 1952. She went to school at Butte High and graduated from John Jay High in 1971. She never married, nor had children. She graduated from Midwestern University with a BSN and went on to graduate from The University of Texas at Arlington with a master’s degree in nursing to continue her nursing career. She worked for Dartmouth Medical Center in New Hampshire and United Healthcare as a travel nurse for 40 years. She was a devout member of the Bandera Oaks Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and an active and baptized witness since the age of 16. She was involved in the Sigma Capa academic sorority for her undergraduate degree, and was an avid member of the American Nurses Association. She was a well-travelled, having visited 5 continents and numerous countries whilst attending global JW assemblies.
She was athletic in her younger years and was an avid outdoorswoman, having enjoyed ice skating, skiing, sledding, and running. She enjoyed the fine arts and ballet. She also enjoyed the opera, and attended the symphony on a regular basis. Bettylou was also classically trained on the piano, and thoroughly enjoyed singing and playing the piano with her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the National Honors Society in high school and was a recipient of numerous awards for exemplary and outstanding charge nurse.
Bettylou Guzman is preceded in death by her father Rogelio Guzman, her mother Josephine Guzman, her sister Gracie Guzman, and her brother Gregory Guzman.
Bettylou Guzman is survived by five siblings: Mary Thomas, Lidia Salmen, Irene Krill, Sarah Luna, Roger Guzman Jr. and various nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at 6:30pm and will conclude at 9:00pm on Saturday March 30th.
Funeral services will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with Brother Cody Smith of the Bandera Oaks Congregation. Bettylou's final resting place will be at Mission Park Cemetery (Dominion) beside her parents on Saturday April 06 2024, at 1:00pm.
