Bertha C. Prado, beloved mother and grandmother, entered rest on October 1, 2011 at the age of 91. A native of San Antonio, she was born to Amado and Concepcion Cadena on November 10, 1919. Throughout her life Ms. Prado was active in many organizations. She served as Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 135 in 1956, and the Yellow Jackets Ladies Auxiliary President in the mid 50’s. In the 60’s she served as PTA President for Loma Park Elementary, Truman Middle School, and Edgewood High School. From 1966 through 1968, she was PTA council President for the Edgewood ISD. Ms. Prado also served at VFW Post 8936 as the Ladies Auxiliary President in 1991. She was a founding, 50 year member of the Dahlias Bunco Club. Her life was dedicated to education, and raising her handicapped daughter. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Edward L. Prado. She is survived by daughter, Mary Ernestine Prado; sons, Edward C. Prado and wife, Maria; Robert C. Prado; grandchildren: Edward C. Prado II, Candace A. Prado-Martin and husband Jason; Tiffanie B. Prado-Ramirez and husband Steven; Eric R. Prado; great-grandchildren: Malana, Noah, Eleeyah, and Alessandra; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2011 to celebrate an 8:45 a.m. Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Texas.
